Please note!  These Spark Arresters are manufactured to a traditional design dating back to the days when steam engines were commonplace on the road.  They are fitted to help reduce spark emission from engine chimneys but DO NOT PREVENT the emission of ALL combustible debris.  It is the responsibility of the engine user to ensure adequate insurance to cover such accidental emissions and their potential results.  For a technical appraisal of the operation of basket type spark arresters please see the National Traction Engine Trust journal ‘STEAMING’ Vol. 45 Summer 2002 issue (ISBN 0260-2962) Technical Topics page 148.
