Internal Spark Arresters
Developed at the request of many traction engine owners and users, the Wheeler Steam Internal Spark Arrester is based on a design used by engine operators back in the days of commercial steam on the road round the globe. They fit neatly into the top of the chimney; the only visual part is the lugs which support it which can be trimmed off after adjusting. Three set screws are simply adjusted and locked to locate the spark arrester in the centre of the chimney for maximum efficiency.
Manufactured from heavy gauge steel wire (the frame is 5 mm and the mesh is 4mm diameter), they are hot dip galvanised for long service life.
All that is needed to order the correct size of spark arrester is to measure the top internal diameter of your chimney. Send this dimension along with cheque payable to

Simple set screw to adjust to keep the spark arrester central. The cross bar is to aid lifting it in and out.

Please note! These Spark Arresters are manufactured to a traditional design dating back to the days when steam engines were commonplace on the road. They are fitted to help reduce spark emission from engine chimneys but DO NOT PREVENT the emission of ALL combustible debris. It is the responsibility of the engine user to ensure adequate insurance to cover such accidental emissions and their potential results.
